Getting good results

Search or ask?

  • Search when you know the words

    An error string, a feature name, a clause number. Search is instant and shows you every place it appears.

  • Ask when you have a question

    Evidence Q&A composes an answer from several passages and cites them. It costs a question from your monthly allowance; search does not.

  • Results agree with each other

    When visual evidence is active, a moment supported by more than one kind of evidence - said and shown, for instance - can be ranked higher because agreement across modes is a strong signal.

  • Open the moment

    Every result links into the recording at its timestamp or the document at its page. Reading the surrounding context is the point.

Search covers what has finished indexing. A recording still processing will not appear until its final stage completes - see upload a recording.

Ask instead of search when you want a conclusion rather than a list. The answer still carries the evidence it was drawn from.
Common questions

Search, answered.

  • No. Search is free and unlimited. Evidence Q&A questions are metered because they compose an answer; searching is not.
  • Transcript and transcript-artifact search appears when core processing is ready. On-screen search appears only after optional visual evidence verifies and activates.
  • Ask the project instead - project-scoped questions answer from everything filed in it. Global search covers the whole workspace.
  • Yes, once they have been read visually during processing. The text found on those pages is searchable like any other.
